About Bradbury Care Centre
- Our History
Where it all began...
Bradbury Care Centre is a wonderful and exceptional facility, whose roots date back over 20 years’ ago. The centre itself was originally built 1994 and officially opened May 22nd 1997 for the social services department.
The scheme for the Bradbury Care Centre was created through a partnership between the Health Services, the League of Friends of Whitchurch hospital and Social Services. The funding for the building and furnishing of the centre was provided through the generosity of the Trustees of the Bradbury Charitable trust based in Hong Kong.
The aim of the Bradbury Care Centre was to prevent admission to residential and nursing homes and help maintain independence and a maximum quality of life for older people in their homes. In 2014, after the tenancy was ended by Shropshire Council, Mandy Silvester took on the Bradbury to re-establish this cherished day centre and offer a new future for the facility.
This work has continued to this day! Originally starting with just 24 service users attending weekly, that figure is now a daily average with over 50 local service users registered with Bradbury Care Centre.
